New flagship building for Georgetown Law

News | July 2023

Georgetown University Law Center has made public its plans to erect a new flagship building on its Washington DC campus.

The 200,000-square-foot facility, designed by partner Yvonne Szeto with associate partner Min Lee, and managed by partner Kate Bojsza, will house an array of cutting-edge educational and collaborative spaces, including 12 legal clinics, 16 classrooms with a variety of flexible configurations, a 100-seat moot courtroom, gathering spaces for students and faculty, and signature event spaces with views of the Capitol.

The LEED Gold building will incorporate numerous green features, such as rooftop solar panels, storm-water capture systems, and terrace gardens. With its gently curved glass curtain wall and transparent base, the design creates a new architectural landmark for the Capitol Hill neighborhood and a welcoming presence for Georgetown Law’s extended community, which includes District residents served by the school’s legal clinics as well as students, faculty, and administrators.
