The exhibition, hosted by M+, in the city’s West Kowloon Cultural District, is the first large-scale survey of Pei's career.
“Pei drew from the regional while shaping the global,” write the curators. “His life and work weave together a tapestry of power dynamics, cultural traditions, and the character of cities around the world, and his transcultural vision laid a foundation for the contemporary world.”
A decade in the making, the exhibition features material from PCF&P’s archives and other exclusive sources, presenting a fascinating array of drawings, models, film, photography and artifacts, many on view for the first time.
“I. M. Pei: Life Is Architecture” runs through January 5, 2025.
